CJ laughs as Charlie and Donna finish picking on each other. You smile and lean back, enjoying how easy they are with each other---but at the same time, you feel incredibly on the outside.

Sam smiles at you. He leans in a bit and says, "Are you having fun?"

CJ rolls her eyes and speaks up before you can. "Oh, good god, Samuel."

"What? I'm just asking---"

You put a hand on Sam's arm. "I am," you assure him.

"See?" CJ demands, looking at Sam.

Sam pouts a bit. You chuckle and then look at CJ. "So, do you guys get to do this every night?"

Carol snorts. "You wish."

You laugh a little. "Okay, so it was worth a shot."

"This happens like once a year," Donna explained. "Less if your boss is Josh Lyman."

CJ smiled at her, eyebrow raised over her glasses. "Are you going to any crazy seminars this week?"

"Sadly, no," Donna said, her voice very dry as she twirled her straw in her drink.

"Crazy seminars?" you ask.

Donna looks at you, abandoning the straw for a small chunk of blonde hair. "Josh likes to send me on ridiculous undercover missions. It makes his day brighter or something."

You smile. "While ruining yours?"

"I do get to meet a few crazy people," she adds, thinking about it. "And he usually buys me shoes afterwards."

Carol nudges her boss. "Why don't you buy me shoes?"

"Because I don't send you on insane assignments," CJ points out.

First, her assistant brushes a hand through her long, dark hair and then she shrugs. "Okay. Good point."

CJ laughs softly. "Yeah, I thought so," she says, after draining her glass. She checks her watch. "Okay... I'm heading out."

"Do you want---"

"No," CJ interupts Carol. "I'm just going to stop in, check the wires, and then I'm going home. Stay and bug Sam."

Sam chuckles. "Thanks, Ceej."

"No problem, Spanky."

You raise an eyebrow. "Spanky?"

Sam sighs and then sips his beer. "Don't---"

CJ grins. "It's just something I call him. Did you two ever---"

"CJ!" Sam yelps.

Her grin doesn't falter. "Anna and I will have girltalk later," she says with a wink.
