Chapter 10: You've Got A Way
Moments like this were paradise to Catherine Willows. Safe in her own bed, wrapped in the arms of the man she loved, as they both basked in the afterglow of their lovemaking.
"How did I ever get so lucky?" she asked the sated man lying next to her, a grin puckering his mouth and a twinkle in his eyes.
"You got lucky?" Gil Grissom countered. He knew he was the lucky one. Catherine would have made a good life for her and her daughter regardless of his presence, but his happiness totally depended on her. That her daughter Lindsey fully accepted him without any conditions or prejudices, was just the icing on the cake.
"Yes," Catherine answered running her fingers across his chest, chuckling at his intake of breath when she played with his nipple. She had discovered he was quite sensitive there, among other places.
"If it hadn't been for you, I don't know that I'd have gotten through that last year of college and into Criminalistics," she told him seriously, "I don't think I ever really thanked you for that."
You've got a way with me
Somehow you got me to believe
In everything that I could be
I've gotta say -you really got a way
"Nonsense," Grissom replied, trying to sound serious and keep his mind on the conversation, which was difficult, the way Catherine was playing with him. "You didn't need anyone's help to get where you are, you got yourself there and I've always admired you for it."
Catherine smiled bashfully at his praise and sincerity, but she couldn't suppress her sense of devilment as she began to trail her fingers in a circling motion down Gil's chest and across his abdomen. The little catch in his breathing when she did that sent shivers down her spine.
"If we start to argue about it you know I'm gonna win," she chuckled using her other hand to settle feather like caresses on his inner thigh.
You've got a way it seems
You gave me faith to find my dreams
You'll never know just what that means
Can't you see...you got a way with me
"Oh God," he sighed his body beginning to shiver, "can't we just agree that we each helped the other get to where we are today?" He lifted his hand to stroke her breast but she slapped it away.
"Uh-uh," she admonished him. "You had your way earlier, now it's my turn." Catherine smiled when he groaned and let his arm fall to his side.
Grissom shuddered violently as the fingers teasing his nipple were replace by her mouth, and her other hand joined her first one tracing delicate circles on both his inner thighs coming closer and closer to his groin.
God, what this woman did to him. She was never satisfied in just receiving the pleasure he loved to bring her. She seemed to relish in playing his body like a harp, finding every erogenous zone he possessed and manipulating them in ways he had never dreamed possible.
It's in the way you want me
It's in the way you hold me
The way you show me just what loves made of
It's in the way we make love
Catherine loved doing this to her lover. She loved that she excelled in giving him pleasure, and it wasn't just the power rush she got off on. True, she always liked to be in control, that was why she had always enjoyed oral sex so much. No man was ever more vulnerable than when his dick was in your mouth. But with Gil Grissom it was so much more than that.
She loved the fact that she could make this mild mannered, introverted scientist writhe with pleasure, that just the very sight of her could crack his well maintained reserve.
Gil sighed contentedly at what she was doing to him, but his breath caught in his throat and then exploded in a whoosh when she lowered her head to his groin and took him into her mouth.
"God, Cath," he gasped. "Not tonight," Not that he didn't enjoy this. She could hear a slight hint of panic in his voice. "Lindsey is only just down the hall!"
She chuckled and heard him gasp again as the vibration travelled along his shaft. Catherine knew what concerned him. She always managed to coax the most intense orgasms out of him like this and he was worried he would be too vocal.
But Lindsey had gotten into the habit of sleeping with her Walkman on when Uncle Gil stayed over. It was something the girl had done whenever she had heard noises coming from her parent's room, when her mom and dad had still lived together. At least now any inadvertent sounds she heard coming from her mom's room seemed to be happy ones, not like the last few times when daddy had been there, when Lindsey was a little girl.
Catherine lathed her tongue over the throbbing red tip of Gil's penis; hearing him muffle a groan and feeling his hips buck up against her. She felt true peace and contentment settle on her, he wouldn't last much longer now. She sucked his full length into her versatile mouth and massaged his balls with her hand.
His entire body tensed as he perched on the precipice of his orgasm, then he shook from head to toe as it took complete hold of him. She heard him give a muffled cry but kept going until his body stilled and relaxed against the bed. Looking up she saw him remove his right hand from his mouth and untangle his left from the bed sheet. She smiled at the teeth marks along the edge of his fist. She'd known it'd been a good one but that was all the verification she needed.
He never touched her when she gave him head, unlike Eddie who had always grabbed her hair and banged her face up and down on him. She'd been curious about that and asked him why.
"Because I never want you to feel that I'm forcing you to do it," he had answered truthfully. "This is a great gift you bestow on me, and I never want you to think I take it for granted."
She'd rewarded him a second time the night he'd said that, and he'd almost bucked them both off the bed.
Lying replete, Catherine heard Grissom say in a soft but honest voice, "I'm the one who's been blessed." He looked at her, his eyes bright with love and honesty. "Before you I just lived for my work, lost myself in the cases and the lives of the victims and their families." He stroked her cheek. "You taught me how to gain perspective on my own life, how to let go of the pain and not always expect rejection."
You've got a way with words
You get me smiling even when it hurts
There's no way to measure what you love is worth
I can't believe the way you get through to me
Catherine felt tears in her eyes, matching the ones she saw in the blue eyes staring at her.
"Why did you ever want to hook up with an introverted science nerd and bookworm like me?" Grissom suddenly asked her.
She sat looking at him for a moment, carefully thinking over her answer before she spoke, "I fell in love with your truthfulness, your integrity and your respect for others regardless of their walk of life or circumstances," she told him. "I fell in love with your heart and your mind. Your body and your soul," she smiled, "and if you're a science nerd and a bookworm then they're just additional parts of the whole package that I adore."
She shook her head as she watched him blush at her directness and honesty. He could be so down on himself but she loved his lack of self-absorption too.
"How could you have seen that I would amount to more than a stripper and a coke head?" she asked him, being just as frank.
"Being a stripper was just how you supported yourself and your family," Grissom answered, never fearing to look her directly in the eye. "The cocaine habit was just a mistake that Eddie set you up for, to keep you working the hours and sticking to the diet that life entailed. It was never who you were."
Oh how I adore you
Like no one before you
I love you just the way you are
"I've loved you virtually from the first time I saw you," he told her admitting freely to his feelings. This was a new side to him but with Catherine it was easy. "But if I ever screw this up, be patient with me?" he asked his eyes troubled. "I'm new at this sharing and loving business and I'm bound to make the odd mistake, but I would never willingly or knowingly do anything to hurt or harm you or Lindsey."
Catherine smiled, running her fingers through his hair, she loved how soft and curly it felt. She knew how lucky she was to have a man like Gil Grissom in her life. With her track record, working unfriendly hours and having a child and a history she'd never expected to attract a clean cut, decent, honest guy to make up their family. That was until the night she had finally admitted her feelings for Gil and found them returned.
"Now," he announced, a wicked gleam in his eyes, "it's my turn," and he slid down her body ravishing it with his mouth as he went.
It's just the way you are
